Converse Creative All Star // Feng Cheng Wang #OFFSPRINGHQCOMMUNITY

Converse’s Creative All Star series encourages the next generation to embrace their individuality and strengthen their talents through experiences that mobilise creativity and the exchange of ideas.

On Thursday 13th February in London, two of our #offspringhqcommunity patch winners had the chance to learn, craft and celebrate the game of basketball, the London way. Using Converse’s heritage to put a new twist on fashion and creativity, while also utilizing products as a canvas for creative expression and personalization by local London collaborators and creatives.

CONVERSE X OFFSPRING

The Converse x OFFSPRING collaboration has brought all the heat this month. The latest Chucks to be released have paid close attention to detail, history and the passion of the OFFSPRING community. The designer behind this shoe is Aman Tak, Senior Buyer at OFFSPRING. Tak reached out to the community to contribute to this design, this was shared via a competition to design a unique patch to be sold with the shoe. (Please take note the patches were gift with purchase alongside the launch in store only)

‘When it came to designing this shoe, we wanted something premium. That’s why the aesthetic is clean, it’s cream, it’s black, there’s a lot of discovery elements to the shoe. If you pick up the shoe you won’t necessarily see them all first time, but when you look at the tongue or the toe, there’s a lot of hidden details ‘ Aman Tak

The two silhouettes were sold in store and are now available online. The latest designs hold a special place within OFFSPRING, as we have a produced a product that is community and design focused, whilst collaborating with an iconic brand, Converse.

OFFSPRING X VANS HERRINGBONE

Taking inspiration from the classic Van Doren prints of the past, the ‘HERRING-BONE’ pack is a 2019 update that’s alive with influences from both the Vans archive and prints found on vintage Vans found in Japanese thrift stores.

Throughout the years the iconic Pirate print has been adapted, twisted and changed from its original inception; all the way to the Star Wars Pack where it featured the Darth Vader mask. The upper ‘HERRING-BONE’ print evokes memories of Van’s earlier designs and those of the early 90’s – now adapted and enlarged to offer an exaggerated aesthetic.

The ‘HERRING-BONE’ pack sees the OFFSPRING logo merge with a skull and crossbones and can be found de-bossed into the side walls of the ERA 95 DX and the Classic Slip On DX 98. The collection will also see an oversized long sleeve T-shirt sitting alongside the footwear styles, featuring the same iconic print and @Offspringhq Community call out.

The first collaboration since the iconic brands teamed up with Cloth Surgeon in 2016, the ‘HERRING-BONE’ pack launches on 13.07.19 – in store and at www.offspring.co.uk

Offspring-insta-faqs | Be Informed

So you want to know how you can be in with a chance of winning some heat on our OFFSPRING Instagram page?  Check out the below!

Raffles

We have a few different versions of these and you must be over 17 to enter or be eligible to win.  Anyone who has won and is found to be under 17 will have the win revoked and risk being banned from future entries, also check out the ‘Collection ID & Process’ section below also

  • Creative – We’ll give clear guidelines on what the requirements are to enter and all the relevant # to use.  If you have a private account, we can’t see your entry and you won’t be eligible.  Sorry, this is an Instagram function, not one we have control over
  • Post Interaction – We’ll post up an image, which may seem quite random but there will be subtle clues, read the info we’ve given with the pic and interact, these will only be live for a short time so make sure you’ve got notifications on
  • Spring Clean – Not technically a raffle but we are big on giving back to the community on older styles we’ve revoked or came across while doing some cleaning.  Please don’t get in touch on this, ever.  We’ll contact you if we feel we can help out.  There is no need to DM us, email us or call us on this.  It’s controlled by a very small group of people to make sure the people from the community are the right people.  This is based on their interaction with us, their loves of products we may have and them having no connection to reselling

Reselling

We’re pretty clear where we stand on this, we don’t support it.  We don’t believe resellers create the hype, the brands and retailers do that along with our #offspringhqcommunity.  We’ll do everything we can to keep our allocation of launch product out the hand of resellers.  If you do win, and we then find out you’re attempting to sell for profit, you can expect to be blocked.

Community

We are completely honest about this, we didn’t create the #offspringhqcommunity, you guys did that and it’s completely unique to all of us and like nothing else out there.  People ask how they can be part of the community and the honest truth is, just get involved, interact, be constructive and positive and friendly.  We’re very open to constructive feedback, we see a lot of chatter or sneaker pages saying we aren’t, we imagine these people feature in our block list for reselling.  The real community members will back us up, we really do take constructive feedback well, and when appropriate, will hold our hands up and make changes for the best.  The sneaker community grows so fast, and is filled with so many passionate people that we won’t please everyone, all the time, we will do our best though.  The #offspringhqcommunity isn’t the only one out there and we think that’s great.  However, we only have a few people (that’s rounding up) control the Instagram side of our business and we’d just ask you stick with information we give rather than other information from other sources.  We’re really responsive so you’ll never need to wait too long for updates on what’s going on.

Launch Locations

We get a huge amount of DM’s, emails and phone calls about why all of our launches are just London based.  We hold our hands up, the majority are, although not all.  The truth is, this isn’t within our control all the time and we do our best to get launch product across our store network and to people not UK based whenever we get the opportunity.  We’ll continue to do this where possible and continue to grow the community.

Backdoor Passes

You’ll see us post

?

on certain posts and comments and you’ll wonder ‘what is all that about?’.  Well, let us tell you..  We decided we were a bit bored with ‘backdoor’ being such a negative term and decided to own it.  So if you see us post a

?

in response to your comments, get checking your DM’s.  It means you’ve just won the chance to purchase the item the post is relevant to, and we’ll have this shipped to you, regardless of where you are in the world.  This is all part of our commitment to getting

?

products into the right hands, regardless of where you live.

Regular Winners

We get a lot of contact and see a lot of ? in sneaker pages about us only ever helping the same people and #noonewins

?

.  It’s just not true, it’s the luck of the draw and we don’t have favourites.  You might see the same people win product in close concession, they are called lucky and interact heavily with the page and have notifications set up.  And why shouldn’t they win if they’ve followed the raffle process correctly and within time?  The truth is, you have a higher chance of winning with us than most.

Getting in touch – DM’s

As we’ve said, we only have 2.5 people run our insta account, so in the nicest way possible, please don’t DM us for service help.  We have an amazing OFFSPRING Customer Service team who will help at help@offspring.co.uk they also have a really fast response rate so you’ll be in great hands.  You’re welcome to DM us about anything really but we prefer it’s sneaker / fashion related, that’s the passion.  And, please, if we don’t DM back, we aren’t being rude, we’re just really busy and we’ll make sure we read all the DMs.  You might also see us post on stories asking you not to DM in, please respect that, it means we’re in a really busy launch period and DM’ing in when you’ve not been asked just holds up this process.

Collection ID & Process

There has been some back and forth on this and we’ve settled on the following

  • To collect, you must be on the winning list
  • You must have photo ID (Driving License or Passport)
  • This ID must match the name and date of birth you’ve given on response to our winning message
  • You must show the winning DM in live, not a screen grab or video, you’ll be required to show us it in your DM’s
  • You have to collect within the timescale given
  • You must be respectful of the customers and staff within our stores or you will be asked to leave
  • There may also be addition security checks take place to ensure the product is going to the correct winners

That’s everything we have and we hope this helps answer some of the questions we get.  Thanks for all the continued support and lets continue to make this the best sneaker community about.

Puma RS-0 design

Last week saw the re-launch of the Puma RS-0 design, which looks back to the original sports roots to inspire a sportstyle collection for 2018. The original RS collection was formed around a high quality- innovate cushioning technology back in the 80s. This silhouette has been stripped down to the basics and rebuilt to accommodate a modern aesthetic starting at 0. The 0 sees a starting pint for Puma’s new RS-0 franchise which celebrates unique movements in culture.

“We are nostalgic for the aesthetics of the past with the expectations of the future. This is how PUMA defines the new RS-0. It’s taking something from the past, evolving it, and reinventing it for today,” – HEIKO DESENS, PUMA CREATIVE DIRECTOR FOR SPORTSTYLE

Friday 13th April saw the launch event in Berlin, which celebrated the past with references to arcade games , directly referencing the ‘future-retro’ makeover of the model. Designated areas were built to immerse the customer into the cultural innovation and aesthetic of the series where culture is pushed forward through innovation in design, style, tech and more.

NIKE X VIRGIL ABLOH: TEN ICONS RECONSTRUCTED

Presented for your inspiration, a celebration of ten iconic Nike, INC. footwear classics in collaboration with designer Virgil Abloh. Each Nike, INC. sneaker is a canvas upon which Abloh directs a new narrative remixing sport and culture. The result is a collage of stories and techniques, releasing the energy earned by each icon both in competition and in community.

The Ten: Air Jordan I PREPARED FOR TAKEOFF
The moment Michael Jordan defied the game and stepped on the floor
in the Air Jordan I, a legacy of performance and sneaker culture was born. Despite league rules, nothing would keep this shoe from getting airtime. Moments of greatness on the hardwood led to a new era of style off the court as this silhouette lifted everything it touched to new heights.
The Ten: Air Jordan I peels away the layers and panels of this unforgettable icon, revealing the details that made this a true landmark of sport and culture.

The Ten: Nike Air Presto WHAT’S YOUR SIZE?
To welcome the new millennium, Nike changed fit forever with the
Air Presto. The seamless, stretchable upper freed the foot for natural movement while its minimal cage acted to maintain structure and fit. The shoe’s comfort was paramount and the Presto quickly became known as “the t-shirt for your feet.” The “t-shirt” moniker has since stuck and eventually led to the shoe being offered in unconventional small, medium and large sizing to emphasize its unrivaled comfort. The Ten: Nike Air Presto presents a maximalist take on this early 2000s icon, with additional design elements jammed right back into the cage and across the heel, all the while maintaining the characteristic t-shirt-like fit.

The Ten: Nike Air Max 90 SHOW THE WORLD MORE
Poised for a new decade, the Tinker Hatfield designed Air Max 90 captured the phenomenon of visible air taking sneaker design to an all new maximum. Celebrated by runners and sneaker lovers alike, this icon of sneaker culture offered more cushioning, more flexibility, and more cultural connections, and found a special place in UK underground music scenes. The Ten: Nike Air Max 90 shows the world what’s under every pair that’s ever touched the road with a deconstructed expression thatunleashes the energy embedded in the silhouette.

The Ten: Nike Blazer TIMELESS & AHEAD OF ITS TIME
The first Nike basketball shoe to carry the Swoosh, the Blazer was designed for immediate dominating impact on the court. In the mid-1980’s, a decade after its debut, the sneaker was wholly embraced by skate culture where the sneaker’s high ankle cut and full foot support were the perfect blueprint for skateboarding’s new aerial dynamism. The Ten: Nike Blazer brings the story behind the Swoosh to the forefront, moving it ever so slightly and pairing it with rough edges and exposed foam that nod to the silhouette’s long journey in sport and culture.

The Ten: Nike Air VaporMax A NEW STANDARD OF AIR
Since its debut the Nike Air Max program has received countless upgrades, striving to reduce the barrier between the upper and Nike’s pioneering visible Air unit. Enter the Air VaporMax, dropping the traditional sole to let wearers feel Air cushioning like never before. A truly modern silhouette, it bridges the gap between high performance, high fashion and high tech. The Ten: Nike Air VaporMax draws a line from this modern expression all the way back to Nike’s origins— applying details from the past to a shoe built for the future. The Air handles the rest.

The first basketball shoe with Air became a force that transcended its days on the hardwood. A groundbreaking performance shoe when it launched, the Air Force 1 just as quickly found an unshakeable place in sneaker culture. To this day, the classic white on white iteration remains the ultimate canvas for urban expression, and a defining icon of NYC and beyond. The Ten: Nike Air Force 1 takes this icon to an all new level with a truly reductive approach that maintains the undeniable feeling of the white on white classic.

The Ten: Nike React Hyperdunk CHANGE AHEAD OF THE GAME
The Hyperdunk has always been for the next generation of greatness on the court. What started with Kobe jumping over a Maserati, has grown into the latest iteration introducing Nike’s React foam technology for unmatched responsiveness that continues to keep the game on the edge of its seat. The Ten: Nike React Hyperdunk makes a comment on this legacy of innovation and future classic status with a minimal upper that draws focus to the chassis of the shoe and the technology inside.

The Ten: Nike Zoom Vaporfly BUILT FOR THE CHASE
The Nike Zoom Vaporfly is the natural evolution of Nike’s origins,a constant mission to craft footwear that enables athletes to do the unthinkable. Carefully designed for a select group of runners attempting to break the 2-hour marathon barrier, the Zoom Vaporfly is a state of theart response to the chase for peak human performance. The Ten: Nike Zoom Vaporfly furthers this dialogue with a nearly transparent upper that allows the engine of performance that propels the shoe to take the lead.

The Ten: Converse Chuck Taylor ULTIMATE EXPRESSION (TBC)
The Chuck Taylor — first known as the All Star — was the original shoe to connect athletic performance footwear and sneaker culture. Representing both team uniformity and rebel attitude, the Chuck became the shoe of choice for those who live life outside the lines. Through its long history, the Chuck Taylor has found a special place in almost every community, something few can claim. The Ten: Converse Chuck Taylor presents an x-ray vision of this everyday icon. Staying true as a blank slate for self-expression, it reminds us that it’s what’s inside that counts.

The Ten: Nike Air Max 97FAST FORWARD TO THE FUTURE
For the first time, Air was in full view with the Air Max 97.As future forward as the day it launched, the Silver Bullet continues to define the look of performance and sport style. With its unmissable reflection and sleek lines that ripple across the upper, the silhouette would also find a place within Italy’s cultural spectrum — from the catwalks of Milan to nightclubs and train yards across the country. The Ten: Nike Air Max 97 blurs the iconic lines of the original to offer a seamless upper and a new point of view on the fast, futuristic feel that lets the full length Air unit shine.

The Air Max Jewel

The latest Air Max 1 Jewel set to launch is one for the books. The new colourways are Atomic Teal, Red and White Gum. It comes as no surprise these latest additions are creating sufficient hype. The Air Max 1 has the Jewel sealed of approval, where premium suedes and soft leathers shape this iconic shoe. The Jewel Swoosh sits along the sidewall, this is a subtle feature instantly separating this Air Max 1 as an exclusive. Be sure to keep up to date with our social accounts for more information.

Instagram of the week: Call Me Peach

Call Me Peach is the perfect balance between French flair and premium trainers. It goes as no surprise that this account caught our eye, her love for Nike is apparent, but be sure to see a few posts about Vans  and Puma. The account captures her extensive collection perfectly. Be sure to have a scroll.
