adidas Originals are honouring the 25th anniversary of the collapse of the Berlin wall and marking this history defining moment with the release of the ‘Fall of the Wall’ pack, reworking the classic 1989-released ZX8000 runner in three unique colourways.
1989 was a year that redefined the social landscape of Germany as a nation divided was brought back together after 37 years with the collapse of this infamous wall.
Constructed in Germany, the pack takes direct inspiration from the three American Allied checkpoints that were located around the East/West Germany border; ‘Alpha’, ‘Bravo’ and ‘Charlie’.
Located 160km from Berlin, Checkpoint Alpha was one of the most important German borders during the Cold War. Taking inspiration from the crossing’s dark building and large stretches of grey asphalt, the ‘Alpha’ features black leather uppers with tonal mesh panelling.
Inspired by the pastel hues of Checkpoint Bravo, this ZX 8000 is constructed from salmon pink nubuck with synthetic underlays, a bright yellow heel cage and light aqua accents running throughout.
The most famous of all the German border crossings, Checkpoint Charlie was located right in the heart of Berlin. ‘Charlie’ is decked out in premium white leather with tonal canvas underlays, finished with a black heel cage and a natural leather lining.
This highly exclusive release is launching on Saturday 8th November and will be available online here and in selected Offspring stores. Check your nearest one for availability.
