Inspired by his love of baseball following a trip to the U.S., founder Rihachi Mizuno established Mizuno in Osaka, Japan in 1906 hoping to increase attraction in the American sport inside Japan. The 1970s’ international running boom saw Mizuno dedicating itself to meticulous scientific footwear research. During the 1980s, Mizuno made developments that would contribute to making the brand what it is today, including the introduction of the brand’s Runbird logo. During the 20th century the brands now famous Wave Technology evolved.
