Tell us about yourself
Hey guys! My name is Moses and I'm 24 from East London. Huge lover of all thing’s sneakers, sports and fashion! I'm a little bit of a creative too but I need to get back on that wave properly ;)
How long have you been into sneakers and how did you get into them?
I've been into sneakers since I was maybe around 12, it was mostly though basketball that I really started focusing on it. I was starting out (as a lot of us did) by playing a little bit but also watching highlights on YouTube. Through this I would always be so drawn into what the players were wearing on the court. So, I decided to do more research into it and now I am where I am – around 200+ pairs deep.
Do you have any early sneaker memories?
One of my earliest sneaker memories has to be me at 15 years old leaving my house on a cold November night to go and line up outside of a department store with my £150 (I think that was retail back then) that I somehow scraped together, in order to try and get the adidas launch. In short...I didn't get them. There were already around 200 people outside prepped with sleeping bags and tents. I was pretty disappointed, but it was definitely an eye-opening experience for me. Growing pains if you will.
Do you have any sneaker regrets and what is your sneaker grail?
I do have many sneaker regrets but the one that stands out is my Jordan 4 Fire Red Mars Blackmons from 2006. I was heading out somewhere and they fell apart AS I WAS LACING THEM UP! The air unit went, the midsole fell apart like it was cake and both plastic eyelets broke off as I pulled the laces! So, I'm currently looking for some donors so I can put this thing back together like Frankenstein.
Personally, I put the term grail into two separate categories. You have the “attainable grail” and the “unattainable grail” which I don't even think I need to define. My attainable grail would be the Jordan 4 Black Cement because that was the pair that got me into sneakers. Watching Michael Jordan highlights when I was young and seeing him hit that buzzer beater vs the Cavs in the NBA playoffs just did something for me. My unattainable grail is definitely the Nike SB Dunk Low Freddy Krueger mostly because of how it just shouldn’t exist at all! It's just such a cool story which every sneakerhead should look into. I have had the
What sneakers are in your rotation currently?
Hmmm, there's too much to pick from! But the pairs I seem to wear a lot would be the Jordan 5 Off-White Muslin, Nike Dunk Low CPFM Swarovski, Nike SB Dunk Low Supreme Red Cement and the 1994 Jordan 1 High Chicago. They're just all such versatile pairs and go with so much! Believe it or not, the CPFM Swarovski’s are a lot easier to wear than you'd think!
Aside from sneakers what else are you into?
Apart from sneakers, I'm also a huge sports fan. Whatever the sport is, I probably watch it or play it! Football and basketball are my main two. During the basketball season, I would frequently go to London Lions games with a few close friends who the community may know Mark (@nineteen.85), Giulia (giuliaz12) and Skillz (@skillz_on_insta).
Something which seems to coincide with my love for sneakers is my love for vintage clothing. I can spend hours scouring the internet, markets and stores across the city for cool rare graphic tees, some vintage work wear or patina ladened leather jackets. I just find it really cool to wear a piece of clothing older than myself – which is often not hard to find haha!
What does the Offspring community mean to you?
The Offspring community means a lot to me because it's one of a few places that I can meet and mingle with likeminded people who geek and nerd out about sneakers in the same way that I do. It was also the place that granted me some of my first wins when really trying to grow my collection, which I'm extremely grateful for. Thanks guys!
