Last Saturday, Offspring had the pleasure of hosting the 5th Year Anniversary celebration of Sneaker Sisterhood at our community store in King’s Cross.
For those who have been following us from the beginning, you know that Sneaker Sisterhood is one of the many collectives born from the Offspring community. It’s been amazing to see not only the growth of their women’s platform, but also how naturally they’ve created a safe space for women in the sneaker space. Together Giulia (@giuliaz12), Ja’e (@hausofjae) and Juelzz (@crown_juelzz) have formed an empowering environment for women to express themselves freely, champion each other and feel part of a wider community.
Here at Offspring, it was important for us to celebrate the 5th anniversary of the Sneaker Sisterhood because it represents the empowerment and inclusivity that we strive to promote within our Community. The Sisterhood has strived to break down barriers and stereotypes within the industry, and their success and longevity serve as an inspiration to all women who are passionate about sneakers.
Additionally, it also highlights the sense of community and camaraderie that has been fostered through our collection days – from gathering on the Offspring Selfridges steps to taking over our King’s Cross Community store, feels as if Sneaker Sisterhood brought things back to their roots.
To kick off the celebrations, we invited 20 community members to participate in a unique customisation workshop led by Kat at @kats.korner.studio. Attendees with varying creative abilities immersed themselves in a two-hour workshop of punch needling, creating iconic designs that resembles Sneaker Sisterhood, Offspring and Converse.
“Nothing but good wholesome vibes getting crafty with the gals on a Saturday ❤️. Sneaker Sisterhood, Offspring and Converse all deserve their flowers for creating such an amazing fun space for us females to enjoy and connect.”
“It was an incredible opportunity to get creative and make something customised by learning a new fun craft skill. To be there in celebration of Sneaker Sisterhood was empowering and the evening was full of delightful conversations speaking and connecting with other female creatives killing it in the sneaker sphere!”
As the evening progressed, guests were energised by the incredible vibes from @saintludo and her number one hype woman, Sandy, who was plotted front row at the DJ decks all night.
“It was so lovely seeing so many women come out for this special event with it also being International Women’s Month! I had a wonderful evening and acquired some new skills courtesy of Kat’s workshop. Definitely, an evening to remember thanks to Sneaker Sisterhood and Offspring!”
Like Converse’s legacy, Sneaker Sisterhood has been experimenting with new forms of expression and adopting unique style for the last five years. Ahead of Sneaker Sisterhood’s celebrations, the girls showcased the reinvention of Converse’s classics in the Chuck 70 De Luxe collection.
