Introducing KEEN – an American footwear brand based in Portland, Oregon. Founded by Martin Keen and Rory Fuerst in 2003, they’ve been making original and innovative, hybrid footwear ever since.
“When we started KEEN in 2003, we said we’d do things differently. We’d bring people together, look out for each other, and take care of our planet. That's why we’re in business. We just happen to make really good shoes.”
Nine years ago, KEEN introduced a whole new kind of open-air footwear. UNEEK, their OG hybrid sneaker sandal, was born from two cords and a sole – and three years of design work to get it right.
Designed with two cords and a sole, the breathable UNEEK sandal-trainer (or is it trainer-sandal?) is all about individual comfort and style.
This totally ‘unique’ shoe has become a fan favourite ever since for its out-of-the-box comfort, unconventional style, and the personalized fit of its corded design.
As a brand more closely associated with the outdoor world than with fashion, KEEN continues to break the mold with their UNEEK collection. Since 2014 UNEEK has gained traction among street style circles around the globe and with trendsetters in Japan. It’s been part of fashion collabs, like UNEEK x Engineered Garments, UNEEK x BEAMS, UNEEK x GARCIA, UNEEK x JOURNAL STANDARD and it’s evolved into a knit sneaker style.
ICONIC DESIGN
With the minimal design consisting simply of two cords and a sole, makes the UNEEK a break from all the suede and leather that defines most footwear today – welcomed especially during the humid summer months in the city. The UNEEK sneaker/sandal is a silhouette that does double duty from a style perspective – blending seamlessly into the towering glass buildings and concrete backdrops of the urban terrain.
The cords are key in the design of the UNEEK sneaker, both in storytelling and visual striking.
The UNEEK collection and selected styles from KEEN are now available at Offspring.
