The Offspring Community don’t play when it comes to kicks. We’re talkin’ about one of the most passionate, OG sneaker communities out there. For this write up, we’re not just talkin’ about hype drops or limited-edition collabs, this one’s all about ‘general releases’ – those pairs that hit the shelves, didn’t need a raffle, and still had heads turning.

The Offspring Community chopped it up and defined the ‘Top 10 General Release Sneakers of All Time.’ Here we go!

10_ JORDAN 4 ‘BLACK CAT’

Let’s start with a classic. These all-black beasts dropped in 2006 and got a retro in 2020, proving that all-black is always fire. The Black Cats are perfect for those who want stealth mode with maximum drip. No wild colours, just straight-up sleek, murdered-out vibes. No wonder so many of you regret not picking em’ up!

–––

Biggest ever GR regrets is still the AJ4 Black Cat. I remember them still being sat on shelves weeks after they first released and I kept saying to myself I’ll get them next payday, then COVID happened and The Last Dance released, they sold out immediately and their price rocketed. – moz273

Special GR mention would be the Black Cat 4s which I thought was going to be difficult to get and ended up being fairly easy – sneakerroom_hampshire

Regret missing out on black cat 4s as they sat for a while and I always said next time I’ll get them. – robstah_congdon

9_ JORDAN 3 ‘UNC’

The Jordan 3 silhouette is iconic, but throw in that clean UNC vibe, and it’s next level. These kicks got that classic elephant print on the heel and toe, while the powder blue colourway reps MJ’s roots at the University of North Carolina. These dropped in 2020 and instantly became a fan favourite.

–––

UNC Jordan 3 is definitely up there with best GR! – lucky13kicks

Air Jordan 3 UNC. People was sleeping on them by the time they were released. Felt like I was getting a pair from 2002 when that colourway was popping. – troneykicks

A pair i regret not picking up was the UNC 3’s that blue is just something else😭👌🏽 – kreppz_

8_ AIR FORCE 1

If there’s a king of all GR sneakers, it’s the Air Force 1. White on white? That’s the go-to. From the streets to the runway, AF1s are in constant rotation, always fresh. Introduced in ‘82, these kicks got adopted by street culture in a way no one could’ve predicted. Hip-hop embraced ‘em, and now they’re everywhere—clean, classic, and versatile as hell.

–––

I’ve thought about this throughout the day today, it has to be the Air Force One, simply because it transcends generations and fashion etc. Rappers wear them, school kids have replaced their school shoes with them. Supreme has even made it a constant item in their stores. All this from a humble black or white Air Force One is quite remarkable. – ehsanseraj

My favourite recent GR pickup would be the ‘Linen AF1’. There’s just something about the colour blocking and mix of colours that hit different. – kreppz_

I had a pair of white, light blue and navy AF1s when I was about 16 years old. Never got another pair but I have fond memories of wearing them as the blue just popped on them. – premjandoo

7_ AIR MAX 1 ‘RED OG’

You wanna talk about revolutionising the game? The AM1 did just that. In 1987, Tinker Hatfield dropped the first sneaker with a visible Air bubble, and it blew minds. That OG Red colourway has been a cornerstone of sneaker culture ever since. The silhouette is timeless, the tech is still relevant, and with the ‘big bubble’ they go as hard today as they did back then.

–––

Favourite GR pickup and all time fave shoe is the Air Max 1 OG Red & White. – dave_edwards_1987

Most definitely the AM1 Anniversary OG red ❣️– domenico_mandyrizzo

For me it’s the AM1 OG Reds, picked up the 2017 anniversary and a 2024 ‘Big Bubble’ below retail. That’s a big W! – marshallahsram

6_ JORDAN 1 ‘CHICAGO’

The J1 Chicago is the foundation of sneaker culture, hands down. MJ wore these back in ‘85, and they’ve been the most coveted Jordan ever since. The red, white, and black colourway is the Bulls’ legacy in a shoe. Every sneakerhead needs a pair of Chicagos in their rotation and the recent ‘Reimagined’ release gave em’ that chance.

–––

For me I’d have to say the Chicago 1s. The greatest sneaker of all time without a doubt! – ashbelsten

Best GR I ever picked up was the OG AJ1 Chicago - wish I’d kept them (not that they would fit me now) but they were just a ‘trainer’ back then - albeit a really cool trainer. – trainersarealsoforwearing

Jordan 1 Chicagos are my favourite GR pick up, they’re what set it all off and nothing will top it! – erunncheema

5_ JORDAN 1 LOW ‘MOCHA’

If you missed out on the Mocha highs, this release would have got you proper fired up! Inspired by Travis Scott’s collab, these have that clean, earthy palette with hits of brown suede that make the Mocha Lows perfect for fall fits – understated but dripping.

–––

The pair I have always wanted but was never able to get was the Mocha Highs but having the Mocha Lows now I’m over the mooooon 😝😜😝😜 – eja_sneakerheads

Most recently; so happy to have got the J1 Mocha Lows, the silhouette for me is just so easy to wear and love me some earthy tones. 🤎 – augustinaleggs

A pair that I missed out on that I've always wanted are the J1 mocha highs! Got the lows so super chuffed! – raj_summan

4_ JORDAN 3 ‘WHITE & BLACK CEMENTS’

The two ‘Cement’ colourways are heavyweights in sneaker history. MJ rocked these in ‘88 during some of his best years with the Bulls, including that iconic dunk contest. The tumbled leather with the iconic elephant print on the toe and heel is a vibe you can’t beat. They’re tough, timeless, and built for sneakerheads who appreciate real history. These are heat—no question.

–––

Honorary shoutout to the Jordan 3 Black Cement and White Cement. No need to even comment on why these are so good! – johnboyy95

If we're counting OGs as GRs (I do) then my answer will be obvious to anyone that knows me. The shoe that made me love shoes, AJ3 Black Cement. Can't wait to get another pair in a couple of months 👌🏾 – datdarkhorse

The best will always be Black Cement and White Cement 3s (and the BC4/WC4). It doesn’t get any better than those 4 shoes. Ideally would like them to drop every year. – carmichaelgram

3_ AIR MAX 90 ‘INFRARED’

When you think of bold, iconic colourways, the ‘Infrared’ instantly comes to mind. The Infrared 90s dropped in 1990 and have stayed iconic ever since. With that sharp pop of red against the white, black, and grey upper, these sneakers the Infrareds bring that energy that gets noticed.

–––

For me it’s the Air Max 90 infrareds. Such an iconic silhouette and banging colour way. Can never have enough pairs in the collection. A shoe that looks better the more it’s worn. – thefamilykick

My favourite GR I’ve picked up is without question the Air max 90 infrared. Staple, classic and with history! If it can be classed as a GR that is! 🔥🧡 – benjy.sb

AM90 infrareds and AM1 OG Reds will always my favourite GR’s ever since seeing my brothers rocking them when I was little. All because of the air units, in my eyes they was like mini windows to another world back in the day. – rbaybay

Best GR pick up would have to be the AM90 Infrared – pretty much every time it releases (GOAT shoe). – jaywdee77

2_ JORDAN 4 ‘BRED’

Missing out on the top spot, we got the J4 Breds. You already know these are essential in the sneaker game. Dropped back in ‘89, the black, cement grey, and red vibes had sneakerheads and ballers losing their minds. Whether it’s for MJ’s famous ‘The Shot’ against Cleveland or the timeless look, the 4 Breds are an automatic cop. Even with this year’s ‘Reimagined’ silhouette, these kicks just scream OG.

–––

Best GR for me would be the Jordan 1 Bred, everything about it is cool. The shoe itself is a banger, it’s easy to dress up or down and the history of it is unrivalled. – 92inc_

J4 breds for me. They were readily available. The colour for me was the best thing, something that will go with anything and everything. – adhillon25

Might just have to be the Bred 4s that come to mind right now. It’s as if they were made for us guys in the UK – A weather fighter. Not quite goretex but does all the jobs and goes with most fits, whether it be in winter or summer🔥 – metrajeperdido

Must be the Bred 4s. Such an amazing sneaker! Colour scheme is just undeniable. How can a predominantly black shoe have so much character? I don't know but it hits every time. Could have any one tone outfit work with these I swear. – thisisvasleon

1_ AIR MAX 1 ‘WATERMELON’

There it is, the AM1 Watermelon takes the top spot. Surprised? Well, it got the most love from the Community. This vibrant twist on a classic silhouette dropped in 2018, the colourway hitting with a summer vibe — green, white, and pink like a fresh slice of watermelon. They got that retro AM1 feel but with a playful energy that make ‘em stand out from the crowd.

–––

Watermelon Airmax 1’s have to be up there for sure 👌🏼 – sneakerpapi_og

I’m definitely going to say the ‘Watermelon AM1’ but there’s been a plethora of AM1 GRs that are pure 🔥 – omarikuchiki

Good morning everyone! The best GR I ever picked up was the Air Max 1 melons 🍉. Just love that pair! – kick.game95

There’s a fair few but the Watermelon 🍉 easily came to mind first – love that CW! – fatz3f

GR that I missed out on and would love to have is AM1 Watermelon 😫 – harrycartz
