IS 2026 THE NEW 2016?

Rumour on the streets is that 2026 is the new 2016…Puma and Rihanna were redefining the high heeled sneaker, Nike Roshe Runs and adidas NMD’s had taken over, and it was our 20th Birthday. So, it was only right that we asked the Community what you were doing in 2016, most importantly what you were wearing back then, and we dug in to our Instagram archives.

2016 still feels like 4 years a go let alone 10 years ago! I was taking L’s for days on every Yeezy releases. I was and still rocking supreme with a dash of CDG. Style has definitely changed I was deep into the skinny/fitted outfits but now I’m into the relaxed/comfy era! Word on the street skinny and fitted are coming back but I’ll happily pass on that. I was and still rocking air Max’s and Jordan’s to this day. But the triple white ultra boost and NMD’s had heads turning in the street! However when Pokemon Go launched that year that was the closest we ever had world peace. That app brought everyone from every walk of life together! Rbaybay

Yeezy hype was in full swing and I got caught up in it but kept clear of skinny jeans 😂. I wanted the Nike Mags with the power laces so bad 😢. My love for Jordan & Air max 1s will never change. Crepbizzle

Jordan 4s / Yeezy 350 . Days of the raffles when you would be camping outside Selfridges , what a time to be alive the 👟 game was real , met all the true sneaker heads and collectors - helped build then offspring community ❤️ Ipsets_

Yeezy hype in full effect! 350 turtle doves, breaking the bank for grey/gum 750s on resell, even copped the 950 boots from you guys! Crazy that was 10 years ago, it was a wild time. UltraBoost were still doing their thing too. Glad to say everything I mention here, I still got today. It was a moment for sure. Sam_morph

Managed to pick up some flyknit racer Orca Volts. Had 2 pairs which I wore into the ground.
I was heavy on the Salomon and Arc’Teryx. Obviously ahead of my time 😂.
Was also wearing the Nike Gyokusai LunarEpic Flyknit, Nike Lunar Fresh for winter. Also Jordan 1s knocking about from 2012. Aussie.dammo

Was heavy on my adidas footwear back then before buying more Nike and Jordan’s Mixie_dee

The young days 😅I had triple black AM90s, Nike blazer highs 🔥 metrajeperdido

Evening everyone, In 2016 in my rotation I had adidas super star and puma Cali were my favourite silhouette . Have a great week everyone!!😊🙌🏻 es_f.p

2016.. well I was wearing NMDs & Roshe runs 😂😂 my beard was less grey and I had no visible tattoos either. jamie_jimz

Morning all, 2016 I remember a fair few Converse, when my knees could take a flat footed shoe on the streets! 😂Was my first Yeezy too...it's a shame that it ended like it did, but those first few years of trying to get all the colourways was like trying to collect Pokemon...Was still in my suit and tie era at work too, so some sensible Clarks on foot as well 5 days a week! Dippersingh45

Pretty much rocking the same - I remember 180s and huaraches being my jam that year! Paulefenton_1

I’ve evolved so much since then my style has changed to a more relaxed fit but still rocking Jordan’s lol huaraches, AF1s and 97’s was defo my thing back then Kj.trendz

Moved to London from Madrid exactly 10 years ago. My taste in sneakers remained consistent with minor variations. Jordans are still my go-to. Still think it’s mandatory to have at least one pair of All-stars and Superstars in the collection. Main change is that I wasn’t much into AM1 and AM95. And being in London meant even more access to releases Astrangerintown

I WAS ACTIVE!!! Off the back of Launching In Selfridges… Opened Food Shops and was up and down country doing interviews and selling product! But I was Also a full year Into Dialysing!😔 and battling with health! I was still rocking BW’s… SC’s… couple 95’s & 90’s and of course 3’s and 4’s…. I don’t really mess with 90’s no more…. Just went off them. Squadgigantic

2016 was a crazy year in terms of releases. Adidas Spezial was at its best. Proper queue/camps with proper people. From The legendary Oi Polloi camps to Wellgosh nights. Both of which are closed now. We’ve always kept it on deck! Adidas GT Manchester SPZL was my favourite release from that year 🔥 Adi_rahuliio_dassler

Well in 2016, I was studying nursing 🩺👩🏻‍⚕️I felt like I was in my prime era🤣😎 one of my first Nike sneakers was Nike Huarache which my parents bought me that year which I absolutely loved🤪 Mrssnkrs

'Nike Air' coming back to the white cement 4 in 2016 was huge for me. Then I would say the three colour ways of supreme x air max 98 collab definitely defined the year. Sneakerboxjoe

Remember rocking the ‘winter trail’ pack Gel Lyte III and the OG turquoise gold Huaraches that dropped in 2014 got alot of wear as well 👌🏽🔥 Javier_chahill

2016 was either Timberland work boots when on mines in Africa or Rifts during the day in Dubai or Jordan 1’s in the evening. Brands were pretty much the same as now - Supreme and Nike were strong. Shorts and tees were all I lived in as the weather was awesome. Thefamilykick

2016 feels like it was just yesterday. Back then I was wearing mid and low tops ( J mids, Vans, Johan Cruyff or that timbo sneakers ) after rocking high tops for years (Timbs, Air Force, Dunk Highs…). I really miss that time. New_kickzontheblock

The year where the hype was massive, queues stretched down streets, and turned sneaker drops and Supreme releases into full-on events. The styles may have changed and the drops have turned more digital, but 2016 was the point where hype culture became impossible to ignore.
