NIKE AIR FORCE 1 ‘HALLOWEEN’

2005

The first of 5 Halloween-themed Air Force 1s in our killer line up. This AF1 screamed Halloween, featuring the cliched colours of Pumpkin Orange and Black on a patent leather upper, with a White midsole, Black outsole, Orange laces and a White embroidered mask and skeletal hand on the heel.

NIKE AIR FORCE 1 ‘FRANKENSTEIN’

2006

One monstrous shoe. This special edition Men’s Air Force 1 was an ode to one the oldest horror characters in the world – Frankenstein’s monster. The two-toned patent Green upper sets the base for this shoe, reflecting the monster’s complexion, with a Silver Swoosh representing the bolts found on the creature’s neck. Another cool detail on the AF1 is the Red stitching on the toe box, depicting the stitching on the neck and forehead of Frankenstein monster.

NIKE SB DUNK LOW ‘FREDDY KRUEGER’

2007

In terms of Halloween-themed sneakers, are these Dunks the greatest of all time? The extremely rare Nike SB Dunk Low features Freddy Kruger’s signature striped sweater covering its two-tone textile upper, while blood-splatters stain the Beige leather overlays. A metallic Silver Swoosh nods to the razor-sharp blades that extend from Freddy’s leather glove. Red embroidered Nike branding featured on the heel atop a Tan midsole and Black outsole, completes the design.

The ‘Freddy Krueger’ Dunks were to be released as part of the ‘Horror Pack’ in the lead up to Halloween 2007. Manufacturing was underway when Nike SB were hit with a cease-and-desist order by _‘_A Nightmare on Elm Street’ producers for not getting the design approved. Nike ordered the sneakers to be destroyed, however a few production samples made it out of the factory. Nobody knows the exact numbers that are in circulation, rumoured anywhere from 15-30 pairs currently on the market. One thing’s for sure, you’re gonna need deep pockets to get you a pair of these.

‘Freddy SB hype and value aside is easily the best. Concept on point and the whole story behind it is mad. Never to happen again. Easily deserves top spot.’ @sliick.kickz

ALIFE X GEL LYTE 3 'GREEN MONSTER'

2007

This collaboration between Alife and ASICS resulted in the unmistakable ‘Green Monster’. The attention-grabbing sneakers were distinguished by teeth, scales, and googly eyes in a beastly blend of Green and Red on the upper, in both crackled and smooth leather. The removeable eyes attached directly to the laces and could be removed for safekeeping. A Red and White midsole mimicked the monster’s teeth and signature ‘ALIFE NYC’ branding on the heel completed the monstrous design.

NIKE AIR FORCE 1 LOW ‘SAVAGE BEAST’

2009

The Nike Air Force 1 nodded to ‘Gossamer’, the Orange, hairy monster in Looney Tunes. The sneakers featured a Ginger pony hair upper and midsole, that dominated most of the sneaker on top of a gum rubber outsole. Signature details included Off-White canvas Swooshes, Nike lace jewels and a devilish Red ‘SAVAGE BEAST’ embroidered on the heel tabs.

NIKE AIR MAX 95 'HALLOWEEN'

2014

The Nike Air Max 95 ‘Halloween’ was released as part of the ‘Air Max Halloween Pack’, dressed in a Summit White, Light Grey, Dark Grey and Mint fused colourway. The design featured textured suede with a crackled leather and material upper in undulating colour fades. Creepy finishing touches included a Gooey Green slimed over the eyelets, heel and outsole and a Red bloodshot eyeball stitched into the tongue.

‘Halloween 2014 for me had one of the best sneakers. The 95s were both on point. Relatively easy to get and still bang 8 years later!’ @mrstreetz_p

THE NIKE AIR FORCE 1 LOW ‘SKELETON’

2018

The iconic Air Force 1 silhouette, dressed in a ‘Triple White’ colour scheme featured some unique X-ray effect detailing, with painted Grey bone graphics cleverly printed on both the lateral and medial sides of the upper. The tongue tags also swapped out their standard Nike branding for a skeletal text hit. A translucent outsole added a little extra alternate flair, and the look was completed by even more bony graphics on the insoles.

‘This is a hard one but the OG White Skeleton Air Force 1 is definitely one of the best!’ @teganporter

OFF-WHITE X NIKE BLAZER MID ‘ALL HALLOWS EVE’

2018

The Off-White Blazers were by far one of the more unique colourways to come out of designer Virgil Abloh’s ‘The Ten’ Collection, showcasing a seasonally appropriate Pumpkin Orange Swoosh atop a Pale Vanilla base. The yellowish Tan hue extended to the exposed-foam tongue and rubber midsole, with the signature zip tie in Blue adding a contrasting pop of colour. Virgil’s signature black font and lines of text registered an appearance on the medial-side quarter panel.

‘How can I forget about the OW Blazer. My favourite for Halloween, the All Hallows Eve! It’s memorable as well, as I fractured my finger literally entering the @offspringhq raffle.’ @streetstyle28

NIKE SB DUNK LOW ‘NIGHT OF MISCHIEF’

2019

This limited-edition SB Dunk screamed Halloween. Constructed from suede, leather, and canvas materials, the sneaker was decorated in various Halloween-specific details including a Pumpkin Orange Swoosh, Jack-o-lantern perforations on the Orange leather vamp, Purple spider webs and the words ‘Trick’ and ‘Treat’ on the left and right heels. Finished with a glow-in-the-dark outsole, to make sure everyone could see you rocking these Dunks, even in the dark.

‘Night of mischief for sure. Unlike the Freddie’s at least they’re obtainable for people and the details are awesome. The all-round perfect Halloween sneaker.’ @adamday0123

NIKE AIR FORCE 1 ‘SHIBUYA HALLOWEEN’

2019

This special Halloween offering of the AF1 was a Japan exclusive, featuring a glossy Black patent leather on the tongues and heels, with Blood Orange tumbled leather overlays and translucent side panels and toe boxes. For the sole, you had a Black rubber mid and Black outer sole, with bright Orange stitching across the side and ‘AIR’ branded text in black to the rear. Smoke Grey covered the heel and Swoosh logo, with ‘SBY’ embroidered onto the heels finishing off the Shibuyas.

‘Shibuya Halloween AF1 for me. Very much under the radar for most but an incredible Halloween pair!’ @oblikick

REEBOK X GHOST SMASHERS

2020

This Reebok x Ghostbusters collab was modelled after the brand's ‘Alien Stomper’ shoe. Dressed in a White, True Grey and Scarlet colour scheme, the ‘Ghost Smashers’ had a fearless design inspired by the cult classic film franchise Ghostbusters. The leather upper had a worn, weathered look as if you’ve gone into battle and signature details from the film give them a legit look. The sneaker's standout feature had to be the removable OG Pump proton pack at the heel, a weapon of choice for the characters in the classic film.

NIKE AIR MAX 95 'FREDDY KRUEGER'

2020

This Air Max 95 release had Freddy Krueger vibes all over it. Dressed in a Velvet Brown, University Red, and Team Red colour scheme, the 95s featured an upper in a mix of mesh and canvas, patterned like Krueger’s iconic striped sweater. Other frighteningly good details included bloody splatters on the Silver tongue representing the killer’s claws, heels, and sole shank. A bloody Swoosh logo on the insole atop an aged midsole and Black rubber outsole completed the design.

‘Without a shadow of a doubt the Freddy Krueger 95. I would love Nike to pay homage to another horror franchise. Maybe the Cenobites from Hellraiser.’ @ulysses_london

NIKE SB DUNK LOW ‘MUMMY’

2021

Following up from the ‘Night of Mischief’ release, Nike SB dropped another Halloween-themed edition of the Dunk Low. Reminiscent of an ancient mummy, the Dunks were dressed in a Coconut Milk, Seafoam and Yellow Strike colourway, with frayed fabric roughly woven around to perfectly imitate the Mummy look. The tear-away upper, revealed a bluish turquoise-like colour like its Swoosh. Other details included glow-in-the-dark soles, heel tab, tongue label, and spider on the left toe. Adding to the Egyptian theme was the ‘Eye of Horus’ displayed on the inner tongues.

‘The mummies from last year are right up there! I felt the effort, detail and design process from Nike was top level.’ @mrloafy
