Last week, we headed to Los Angeles as ComplexCon celebrated its 10th anniversary, bringing together some of the biggest names and most influential communities across sneakers, streetwear, music, art and culture.
Taking over the creative reins from Daniel Arsham, Hiroshi Fujiwara’s fragment design brought its unmistakable minimalist aesthetic to this year’s event. From the stripped-back visual identity to subtle fragment references hidden throughout the venue, the Japanese creative’s influence could be felt at every turn.
As always, the brand presence was huge. From Lil Yachty’s Pawn Shop and BAPE to Opium, Raspberry Hills, SP5DER and Hellstar, there was plenty to explore. Vans’ collaboration with Satoshi Nakamoto caused a particular storm, becoming one of the weekend’s biggest talking points.
Beyond the retail spaces, immersive installations from Street Fighter and Ed Hardy sat alongside LAAMS’ newsstand, while a packed programme of conversations explored the ever-evolving landscape of culture. Of course, the always-debated Sneaker of the Year discussion was another highlight.
And it wouldn’t be ComplexCon without a few familiar faces. Lil Yachty, Kanye West and Playboi Carti were among the names adding to the energy of the weekend.
Ten years in, ComplexCon continues to demonstrate just how closely connected the worlds of sneakers, fashion, music and community have become.
Great to see so many familiar faces, and hopefully we’ll catch even more of the OFFSPRING community out there next year.
