We chat to Offspring Community member Angie a.k.a alwaysangieange to discuss her journey and passion for all things sneakers, and her content stream on Angi3TV.
Tell us about yourself.
Hello, I go by the name Angelina, but I’m often called Angie. Hmmm, what can I say lol, it’s always funny when someone asks you about yourself, it almost feels like upselling.
Nah, I would say I’m a lover of all things creps/sneakers, food, and music. Funny enough. as much as I talk and come across as bubbly, I'm honestly a shy kid at heart. Some might say a content creator, I call it Angi3TV.
Where are you from and what do you do for a living?
I am from South London, Peckham to be more specific lol. What can I say? Born and raised, literally runs through my blood and veins. But don’t get it twisted, a lot of legends have come out of Peckham – fun fact, I used to live next to the famous barber shop and fictional television series ‘Desmonds’. Background-wise, there are a few countries in the mix, Ghana, Nigeria and India. But growing up, I had to give it to my mum and my Ghanaian heritage. I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Let's just say I work in Tech/Sales, if I disclose any further, the company could sue me for a lifetime, I wish I was kidding LOL. I'll be real, I'm not gonna come here and sit and lie for you guys.
I hate my job, but I'm forever grateful to have one, especially in this economy. I would say my job definitely doesn’t define me; however, I have met some great people over the years.
What influenced you as a kid, what got you into sneakers?
As a kid, I was always a bit of a loner, a strange fruit, one might say. I loved music growing up. I miss the rush of having to run and turn on the TV in hopes of your music video playing. I was always influenced by family and musicians. I always thought it was so cool that I had family abroad, especially living in the States, and could always keep up with the latest fashion and trends.
I loved cartoons, from Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, etc. I was really into art, and I had a bad habit of drawing cartoons onto my shoes, especially my trainers. This then developed my love for sneakers. Some believe in head to toe, nah, I see it as shoe to head. I believe a person’s shoes can tell you everything you need to know about a person, from the brand, silhouette, condition, and history.
I was never a girly girl, I had a barbie house, I would just stare at it and dash it to the side. Instead, I was always with the boys, my older brother and cousins, whether it be listening to music, freestyling over beats, going into shops only just to window shop. I remember Footlocker and Size? Being my ultimate favs for exclusive sneakers.
I used to think it was only the rich and upper class who could afford a sneaker collection. Came to find out, all it takes is just buying one pair, and the rest is HISTORY!
What sneakers are in your current rotation?
OOOooo that’s a toughie. My go-to sneakers are my P-6000s, especially for errands and work. I love getting my steps in. Recent pickups, Jordan 4 Undefeateds, Nocta Glides, 95 GALOREEEEEEEEEE… too many 95s this year, honestly. Pink Foams, Levi’s, Honey Blacks my ultimate fav! I said to myself I was going to calm down, but all sneakerheads know that is IMPOSSIBLE hahahahahahahahahahahaha.
We’ve seen you doing your thing over on Instagram and TikTok – how did this come about, and how did you get into it?
Funny enough, I started TikTok in 2020, but I had no clue how to use the app; I literally thought it was for dancing. I started playing around with it and was just too confused. I came back around 2022 and fell in love with the app. But I always say my TikTok is more of a freestyle. You never know what I might post LOL. Instagram is where the heart is. I always used it as my daily sneaker newsletter, started to feel more comfortable and started taking fit pics to show my love for sneakers. This further developed into Angi3TV.
Angi3TV was in my Notes app from 2020, would you believe? Never had a clue what I was going to do, but boy, I had the name from the jump. I only started doing interviews/sneakers content last year. Can’t say I did it all alone; I had great people around me and friends who motivated me and pushed me to create content. I was always scared at first, for many reasons, like affording content equipment, would I be liked? Am I doing the right thing?
I love talking to people and spreading good vibes, but I had to find a way to incorporate this into my content. It’s been a fun ride, and I don’t plan to stop any time soon. I’ve been so grateful to collaborate and work with brands.
How do you push/motivate yourself to keep going?
If you don’t push yourself, who will? This is something that resonates with me every day. Sometimes, we have to challenge ourselves to see growth. I like to reflect on childhood; I wasn’t normal, and I knew this from a young age. I was quiet and was often picked on, so I know what it feels like to feel worthless and unappreciated. I always wish I could go back in time and tell my younger self that everything will work and be okay. I always infuse this with my content. I like to remind others of their worth and potential. As they say, ‘The sky's the limit’.
You’ve been a Community member for a long time now. What’s been your highlight?
My highlight I would have to say is being able to meet other OFFSPRING Community members and build genuine friendships. I love the non-judgmental sense of feeling; we all share a common love and interest for sneakers. But for me also, my highlight has been all the OFFSPRING events.
I love the themes and structures. I can only imagine what it takes to put together a whole event. The Military Blue 4s event was a fav of mine, because this was where I did my first public street interview and gained my confidence.
What does Community mean to you?
Community can mean many things:
– Sense of belonging
– Shared Identity and purpose
– Inclusive spaces
Community is US. It doesn't matter what race, size, or background you come from; there are no popular or unpopular kids. it's what the world should be, a better place for us to live in and wear sneakers, of course.
Do you have any sneaker regrets?
Please don’t make me cry, I hope you know I’m crying while typing, too many to even think of. I am a firm believer, though, that everything happens for a reason. But if I had the chance again? definitely the ‘Lil Yatchy Lucky Green Air Force 1’ in a size UK 5.5 LOOOOOOL, And of course, the ‘Chunky Dunky SB Nike Dunks’ speaks to my inner fat child. Hmmmmmmmm
You attended London Fashion Week recently, and more specifically the MAINS show, which item from the latest collection would go straight in your basket?
MAINS was amazing btw. C’mon no brainer. it's gotta be the Ribena themed jacket with the straw on the back, THE CREATIVITY IS OUT OF THIS WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!
