YEEZY SEASON 3 – NEED TO KNOW

The presentation of Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 3 collection and The Life of Pablo album completely took over Madison Square Gardens last night, but it being Kanye West would we expect anything less? Not many people have the ability to attract viewership of that scale and with his Kardashian / Jenner squad out in full force showing support, it’s clear to see why Kanye West believes and hopes he’ll be the next creative director for Hermes.

Everyone who is everyone attended the presentation including Anna Wintour, Olivier Rousteing, Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid and even fellow artists in the music industry such as 50 Cent, Kid Cudi and Travis Scott also making an appearance.

All the models, when I say all I mean all couple hundred of them, were dressed in the expected neutral tones from the Yeezy collection. We’ll look forward to the following collections which he has promised will be more affordable. yeezy-season-3

OFFSPRING Artist Series; John Greene

We kicked off the Offspring Artist Series with artist John Greene for August. The event, sponsored by Atticus larger, saw John customise the back wall at our Bromley store with his unique style. His piece, referencing Mexican mural painting and the act of bringing elements of contemporary art together to form a rich and diverse language.  Or in his own words;

‘This work came together from a wish to celebrate the tradition of mural painting – more specifically Mexican mural painting of the early twentieth century.  The work of artist’s like Diego Rivera, Jose Orozco and Alfaro Siqueiros: the key elements of this style were the marriage of fantasy, iconography and social narrative.  Along with a rich and diverse visual language that would appeal to all Mexicans, the murals were considered the works of the people and for the people and adorned many public buildings; public painting in its truest sense.’

In September we’ll be bringing a bit of home grown talent to Bromley, with one of our very own taking on the wall to create something unique.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHIES

John Greene – born in 1985, graduated MA Fine Art from Central St Martins in 2009, lives and works in London, UK – is a interdisciplinary artist whose practice is based on the notions of social narrative and the notion of the spectator as collaborator. John uses more traditional methods of image making such as drawing and painting and presents them as an installation of different components questioning the nature of contemporary image making. The work is made to create a social dialogue between the artwork and the spectator. Within this the artist playfully analyses notions of the contemporary and the iconic, often deconstructing media created norms to analyse every message in the image.

Neha Morjaria is a London based Contemporary artist who has been painting for over 10 years. Inspired by bold abstraction and colour, Neha’s blend of stencil and textural art combines her passion for graffiti-style methods with modern painting techniques. She studied Fine Art at Wimbledon School of Art and used her creativity to work within the Fashion and Make-Up industry, before settling into more bespoke painting. Neha now uses her interest in the Fashion industry to define her confident style. Her work has been shown in various solo and group exhibitions across London and has been described as ‘A colourful world on a canvas’.
